Recently, I had this brilliant idea that I would start making “haunted” miniatures. I have always wanted to “art” but felt I was never really good at it. So I wasted 25 years realizing I was extremely unhappy being a performing/writing musician, thus landing me here.
Naturally, I looked around online to see what actually was out there in this realm. A lot of great stuff popped up, most notably the woman who inspired me to actually give it a try. Her name is Heather Tracy, and she’s got some amazing creations! Be sure to check out her YouTube channel* for great tips and tutorials.
*Some links are still available but the channel is set to private at this time. I don’t know why and it bums me out :/
I’ve learned a lot from watching her work and I look forward to creating a lot more as I pick up additional knowledge and skills!
Here is the very first miniature project that I tackled (besides trying to make a bear skin rug with googly eyes when I was eight, but that’s for another time… I digress…). This little project is based on Heather Tracy’s video on Spectral Monk Figures.
As you can see, I made my own little 1:12 scale scene out of it from craft foam, cardstock, and acrylic paint. I found a great little lantern pattern here by WeLoveMiniatures and used a gutted tea light. There is also a YouTube tutorial. Also added was some fake foliage.
At the end of the day, it’s all about trying new things and taking risks. No risk, no reward! Happy Haunted Crafting!
